Profile – Axel Le Palabe
AXEL THE CHATTERBOX
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
ALP: My name is Axel Le Palabe, and I was born on June 13, 1998. I’ve been skiing since I was 3 years old. I started out in alpine skiing, spending several years in a ski club before moving on to freestyle skiing. For four years, I was a member of the French national team and had the chance to travel all over the world thanks to competitions. I became the French Slopestyle Champion in 2016. Today, I’ve decided to focus on freeride skiing competitions. My goal is to qualify for the Freeride World Tour.
When and how did you learn to paraglide?
ALP: I’ve been flying in a tandem glider with my father since I was 3 years old. I started flying solo four years ago in Annecy after taking an introductory course.
How often do you go paragliding?
ALP: My flying style is pretty varied—I love it all. Soaring, cross-country flights, trying to complete my first short cross-country flights, and ski flying. I try to do a little bit of everything to become as versatile as possible 🙂
Do you have a special memory of flight to share with us?
ALP: My most outstanding memory in flight is with my father. A great tandem among many in Aussois (in the Maurienne valley where I come from) . This one we flew very close to the clouds, so I picked up a few pieces of the clouds to bring back to my mum! These memories of childhood flights will remain engraved. Thank you Daddy for having transmitted this passion to me.
What are your plans for the future (paragliding and other activities)?
ALP: My goals for the coming years are to compete in freeride events. I also want to make a ski film next season and create high-quality content for social media throughout the year, drawing on all my passions.I want to use paragliding to share new emotions, images, perspectives, and even new adventures on social media by connecting all my different passions—including my passion for paragliding.
