VALENTIN SERRANO
Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
VS: My name is Valentin. I’m 14 years old and I’m in 8th grade at Touvet Middle School. I’ve lived on the Plateau des Petites Roches since I was 1 year old, and I was quickly drawn to the paragliders flying over my school!
When and how did you learn to paraglide?
VS: With the Saint Hilaire school, we participated in the Coupe Icare every year and set up booths for other classes. I often spent time at the launch sites watching the paragliders practice. After my first paragliding course at Prevol Paragliding, I became deeply passionate about the sport. Some friends lent me an old wing, and I started practicing on the training slope at Saint-Hilaire-du-Touvet.
How often do you go paragliding?
VS: For Christmas 2020, my parents gave me my first paraglider on the advice of Sylvain Piroche, a family friend. Ever since I got my paraglider, whenever I have free time, I go practice at the training slope. I took an advanced course to start learning the technique. Now I have only one thing on my mind: to fly like my idol, Theo Deblic.
Now I'm a partner with Air et Aventure, and Thibaut Pignol and his team are helping me improve.
Do you have a special memory of flight to share with us?
VS: My best memory was flying at the Dune du Pilat—it’s magical! I also met Théo Deblic at the Coupe Icare, and during Red Bull X-Alps, I got to walk with Christian Maurer for a while.
What are your plans for the future (paragliding and other activities)?
VS: I’d like to become a speed climbing champion, and my dream is to compete in the Red Bull X-Alps! Thank you, Supair, for supporting me in my passion.
