To get the most out of your paraglider, it’s important to be properly positioned within the wing’s all-up weight range. That’s why the BIRDY2 is available in 6 sizes instead of the usual 5, allowing you to optimize your position within the range all-up weight as much as possible. To get the most out of your BIRDY2, we recommend choosing a all-up weight where you fall within the upper half of the range. The BIRDY2 has passed double load testing, which means that the smaller sizes have been tested separately from the larger ones, to best adapt to the specifics of each. This makes it possible to use materials and lines adjusted to each size: thinner lines on the smaller gliders s help reduce drag, and therefore maximize performance.
The BIRDY2 has also been developed in size XXS to meet the needs of smaller riders, who often have trouble finding a wing suited to their weight. The 50–65 kg weight range makes it easier for lighter riders to fall within the upper half of the range all-up weight, and thus enjoy an optimal experience under their wing.

With the BIRDY2, we’re introducing an XXS size, with a weight range (all-up weight ) of 50 to 65 kg. This new addition allows pilots of all sizes— including the lightest ones—to find a wing that fits them perfectly.
Why is this so important?
The position within the range of all-up weight directly affects how your wing performs. Here's what that means:
- glider lightly loaded: generally slower at flight, this can make it easier to exploit thermals. On the other hand, theglider is more sensitive to turbulence, with more frequent "flashing" movements (although generally without consequence).
- glider highly loaded: flight fast and more resistant to turbulence. Closures are less frequent but can be more dynamic. Since the speed is higher, the use of thermals is a little more technical, requiring a shorter reaction time from the pilot.
Our recommendation:
For optimal performance, we recommend targeting the top third of the range at all-up weight. This ensures:
- Good speed for your transitions.
- Increased Stability in turbulence.
- Better contact withglider for precise, comfortable steering .
